Her knees come right up at the viewer, legs foreshortened so sharply the whole pose reads almost architectural. I let the red-brown underpainting stay exposed under the skin tones, and the blonde hair with its stray purple ribbon is the one soft note against all that raw color. Painted in Maharashtra in 2019, fast, before she could move.
