Oil painting of a nude figure lying beneath a large chaotic mass of golden, white and grey abstract forms, with a second darker figure crouched to the right, one raised leg bound at the ankle with a chain.

The figure lies flat beneath a heap of ochre and white, more rockslide than blanket, so the title argues with itself a little. I built the pile out of hundreds of small broken strokes and left the body underneath soft and pale by contrast. The second figure, folded into shadow on the right, has a chain looped around one ankle, which is the detail that keeps the whole scene from ever really settling.
