First Love

I built this whole canvas out of one burning red, the color of blood rising under skin. Two bodies emerge from it in white and black strokes, one reclining with her face barely sketched, one hand reaching up as if trying to hold onto something already slipping away. At nearly two metres tall, it was my attempt to paint what first love actually feels like, too much, too fast, impossible to hold still.
