Bird Wedding
Two bodies fold into each other at the center of this canvas, surrounded by a storm of red-brown wings. I let the birds dissolve into pure brushwork, drips and all, so the whole thing feels like one restless commotion around a quiet, still center. The title comes from the old German folk song about birds getting married, though what's happening in the middle is something more private.
