Bombay in the Morning (Yellow Diptych No. 1)
This is the first panel of a diptych, painted after a morning in Bombay when the light hit the crowd like something spilling over. I worked fast, layering yellow and orange washes and letting the faces emerge and dissolve into each other, the way a crowd does when you're moving through it. The white of the linen still shows through in places, holding onto the heat of that early light.
