Evolution
I painted this as one continuous knot of bodies, climbing and twisting into each other until a single figure breaks free at the top, arm and leg thrown up into the blue haze. The flesh tones stay warm and raw against the cool turquoise ground, and down at the base the paint gets thick and unresolved, like the bodies haven't fully separated yet. It took the whole canvas to get that sense of something pulling itself upward out of a mass.
